David C. Bloomberg joined the firm in 1994 and has been a partner with the firm since 1996. David's practice emphasizes the representation of clients in both commercial and residential real estate transactions, as well as banks and other financial institutions in both real estate and asset based lending transactions. He is actively involved in the representation of non-profit developers of affordable housing, having handled the closings for the creation or rehabilitation of over three hundred and fifty affordable housing units. His other work with non-profit organizations includes the development of facilities for vocational training, substance abuse rehabilitation, and transitional housing for the homeless and for victims of domestic violence. In connection with these development projects, he has closed historic tax credit syndication financings, tax exempt bond financings and numerous loans from the Massachusetts Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation, the Department of Housing and Community Development and the Massachusetts Housing Development Finance Agency.
David's representation also includes commercial real estate developers, particularly with respect to acquisition and construction loan financing transactions, as well as business clients in matters such as choice of entity and business formation.
He serves as the Chair of the Northampton Zoning Board of Appeals, and has been a member of the Property Law Section Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association and a Trustee of the Forbes Library in Northampton. David currently serves as a Director of the New Century Theatre, and is a former Director of the Nonotuck Community Child Care Center. A commercial pilot with an Airline Transport Pilot license, he is also an active FAA Certificated Flight Instructor and FAA Aviation Safety Counselor.
A graduate of Northampton High School, David holds a bachelor's degree with honors from Yale University and received his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Prior to joining the firm, David practiced law in Connecticut for nine years, most recently as Senior Counsel at Fleet Bank, N.A., where he was the head of the law department in Hartford, and he is admitted to the Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island bars. David and his family live in Northampton.
